The anticorruption bureau in Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha (DBHPS) has filed a criminal conspiracy case against the former president of DBHPS, Shivayogi Neeralkatti, and others for misusing funds meant for Hindi language promotion between 2005-2017. Neeralkatti is accused of running courses unrelated to the original purpose of DBHPS grants, and his son, Shivayogi Neeralkatti, was also involved. The case was filed after a preliminary inquiry was conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Madurai, based on a complaint from the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Education (Neeta Prasad). The inquiry found that DBHPS had misused Rs. 578 crore of government funds, and that Neeralkatti and his son, Shivayogi Neeralkatti, had abused their official positions to commit financial irregularities.
