The civic authorities in Ludhiana, India have been unable to find any record of receiving payments from any source for the G8 books. The audit branch had raised objections on these missing G8 books due to which the MC had faced monetary loss. Now for the past few months, the vigilance officials of the local bodies department have been asking about the missing G8 books. They claimed that they have issued showcause notices to those who have not submitted the missing G8 books in the record. According to a letter issued by the additional commissioner office, 135 G8 books had been missing in zone A out of which 68 have been returned. 92 missing from records from zone B but nothing has been submitted in zone C. 21 G8 books had been missing out of which 19 have been returned in zone D. Maximum 279 G8 books have been missing and nothing has been returned. The G8 books are issued to recovery staff for the recovery of property tax, water supply and sewerage dues and all other types of dues in case any grant is issued to the civic body. Even though a G8 book is issued, in the past several incidents had happened where employees had complained that G8 books had gone missing residents too had to pay the price for officials’ lapses
