Piers Morgan opens up on gruesome physical fight with Jeremy Clarkson that left him scarred for life
PIERS Morgan has revisited his bloody fight with Jeremy Clarkson that left him with a scar on his head in a new interview.
The TalkTV host clashed with Jeremy at the 2004 Press Awards during his tenure as Daily Mirror editor, sparking a years-long feud.
Piers recalled the violent clash on Spencer Matthews’ Big Fish podcast while having his say on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to reject Clarkson’s apology for an offensive column he wrote about the actress last month.
The broadcaster said: “That scar on my head is where he punched me in the head, we’re not exactly best buddies, although we get on fine now.
“I was editor of the Mirror and we published photographs of him in a compromising position with someone who wasn’t the then Mrs Clarkson and he didn’t like it, and next time he saw me he punched me in the head, which I thought was perfectly reasonable.”
Piers went on to say he probably would have done the same thing if he was in Jeremy’s position and had no intention of playing the victim after the fracas.
He then criticised the Sussexes for demanding Jeremy apologise for other columns he’s written in the past which they deemed to be offensive.
Piers said: “They did what I knew they’d do. Utterly graceless, threw it back in his face ‘nope, you’re disgusting. We need a load of apologies for all the hateful things you’ve ever said or done’…
“You can never apologise to the woke mob.”
Frenemies Jeremy and Piers previously showed off the battle scars they sustained in their brawl during a Who Wants To Be A Millionaire celebrity special in 2020.
“I can think of a million reasons why I shouldn’t trust you,” said Piers on the quiz show.
“Including this scar on my forehead.
“And there’s your broken finger… from when he struck me.
“I’m going to say the words I never thought I’d say… I trust you. I believe you. At least this way if I’m wrong, it’s your fault.”
