Donald Trump can be questioned in lawsuits by ex-FBI agents he attacked
Former President Donald Trump can be questioned in lawsuits by ex-FBI agents whom he publicly attacked.
A federal judge ruled on Thursday that Trump can be deposed in a pair of suits by former senior FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.
Strzok and Page alleged in separate suits that they were targeted for retribution after the agency probed Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election. Strzok sued claiming wrongful termination and Page alleged privacy violations. Both suits were filed in 2019.
The depositions are required to remain within two hours and cover a ‘narrow set of topics’ that were brought up in a sealed hearing that took place on Thursday.
US District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson also ruled that Strzok and Page would be allowed to question FBI Director Christopher Wray.
Jackson said that the Biden’s White House must decide by the end of March if he will use executive privilege on Trump’s discussions around Strzok’s termination.
