BGT legend becomes first time dad as he and fiancé welcome daughter by surrogate
BRITAIN’S Got Talent star Ashley Glazebrook has become a dad after welcoming a baby daughter via surrogate.
The Twist and Pulse dancer, 31, and his fiancé Liam Durbidge’s daughter Tillie was born last month.
The couple spent six days bonding with the newborn in hospital after she was born prematurely.
Ashley wrote on Instagram at the time: “Being a family of 3 is the best thing EVER! We love you, our tiny Tillie.”
Little Tillie was delivered by mum-of-three Abbie, and the couple paid tribute to their surrogate for allowing them to have a family, saying: “We would never be able to put into words how thankful we are to this incredible woman.”
They opted to have a gestational surrogacy, which is the use of an anonymous egg donor to ensure there is no biological link between the baby and surrogate.
Abbie said: “Something so simple as having a family really is taken for granted, when I gave birth to my third child it finally sunk in how important family was. I finally felt ‘complete’ and I had that family unit that I’d longed for.
“This then made me feel so desperate for the couples that were childless. Why couldn’t they have a family like me? How is it fair that they will never experience that rush of love for their baby?
“I knew I could make a difference. And seeing a family be created in front of your very eyes in that delivery room knowing you made that possible is the most indescribable feeling!”
The trio shared smiling pictures in hospital that were taken three hours after Tillie was delivered and they received well-wishes from their followers.
Twist and Pulse, who are Ashley and dance partner Glen Murphy, found fame with their high-energy comedic routines on BGT in 2010 when they finished runners-up.
Nine years later they went one better when they were crowned the ultimate BGT act, winning the inaugural BGT: The Champions.
