Hunt for gang who posed as Border Agency squad to barge into man’s house and murder him

POLICE are hunting for a gang who posed as a Border Agency squad, barged into a man’s home and murdered him.

Three men dressed in all black burst into Martin Truett’s house and brutally attacked him.

The 63-year-old was seriously injured and raced to hospital, where he tragically died 17 days later.

Nobody has been charged for Martin’s death, and he and his family “deserve justice”, police say.

The horror unfolded his Northamptonshire home three months ago, but the cops have today put out a fresh appeal.

They are calling for anyone with any information to come forward.

The cops said Martin’s family are still grieving, and want to see those responsible for his murder put behind bars.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “Martin was assaulted in his home in Highfield Road, Wellingborough, on Friday, November 25, between 8.45pm and 10pm, when he answered the door to three males wearing black, purporting to be from the Border Agency.

“He was taken to hospital where he sadly died 17 days later on the morning of Monday, December 12.

“A murder investigation was launched by Northamptonshire Police’s Major Crime Team and three months on, detectives are still keen to speak to anyone with any information which could help them piece together the events which led to Martin’s death.”

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Adam Pendlebury, said: “Martin’s family continue to grieve his loss and we want to do everything we can to try and put those that killed him behind bars.

“I really want people in the local area to think back to that night in November and let us know if they saw three people door-knocking, checking addresses or delivering leaflets in the area on the day of the offence.

“I would also continue to urge local residents to review any CCTV, doorbell or dash cam footage they might have which could help our investigation. No matter how small you think it is, let us know about it so we can review it.

“Martin and his family deserve justice and any piece of information that people can provide us with in order to get us closer to that would be invaluable.”

Witnesses, anyone with information, or anyone with any pertinent footage should call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
