Bay Area News Group boys high school athlete of the week: Daniel Schembri, Sequoia soccer
Sequoia soccer player Daniel Schembri is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Feb. 13-18 after he received 45.64% of the votes when the polls closed at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Granada basketball star Andrew McKeever (38.96%) finished second and Prospect basketball player Tommy Lewit was third.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Schembri, a senior, scored the only goal off an assist from Leimana Makasini as third-seeded Sequoia edged sixth-seeded Hollister 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs. Schembri entered this week with 11 goals and seven assists this season.
