[Women's Basketball] Women's Basketball Conference Honors Released
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - (COMPLETE HONORS) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its 2022-23 Women's Basketball season honors.
Kyra Whitaker of Indiana Tech was named Player of the Year after leading the Warriors to an 18-2 conference record. For the first time since the award's inception, there were Co-Defensive Players of the Year. Indiana Tech's Erika Foy and Concordia's Taylor Leatherman shared the honor. Newcomer of the Year went to Taylor Covington of Indiana Tech.
Indiana Tech head coach Jessie Biggs earned Coach of the Year after leading the Warriors to their fifth conference championship with an 18-2 WHAC record. Cornerstone's Jessica Yonkers was voted as Champions of Character Coach for the second consecutive year.
In addition to First and Second Team All-Conference, the WHAC also named an All-Defensive Team and an All-Newcomer Team. Juniors or above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 GPA were awarded All-Academic Team honors. Nominees also must have been in attendance at the nominating school for one full year. The Champions of Character Team consists of one bowler from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.
