The Wildcats had 35 shots at the enemy net but the rival Sea Dogs emerged with a close 3-2 victory before 3,400 fans at Avenir Centre in Thursday night action.
Jonas Taibel scored his 7th, a shorthanded effort, in the first minute of play to open up the scoring for the Cats. Vincent Labelle potted his 24th of the season to tie game at 2-2 early in the 3rd before Saint John's Guiseppe Ianniello delivered the game-winner with 5 minutes left.
Sea Dogs netminder Ventsislav Shingarov made 33 saves while Vincent Filion stopped 21 shots.

The Wildcats look to halt a 4-game losing streak Friday night in Bathurst against the Titan at KC Irving Centre at 7 pm. The Cats shutout the Titan 4-0 in their last meeting on February 10th.
The Wildcats host the Shawinigan Cataractes on Sunday Funday at 4 pm at Avenir Centre.
