The Supreme Court has stuck down the portion of the EPFO's 2014 notification where an employee was required to make an additional contribution of 1.16% of basic salary above the wage ceiling of Rs 15,000 towards the pension scheme. The Supreme court has asked the EPFO to work out alternatives. However, the EPFO is yet to come out with the clarity.
