‘Phantom egg thrower’ terrorising village by pelting cars every Friday night

A phantom egg thrower has been terrorising a quiet village in Kent.

Baffled villagers in Greenhithe, near Dartford, have been tormented by a series of mysterious attacks which have seen their cars get pelted with eggs every Friday night for the last three weeks.

Confused residents have been left fuming by the damage caused to their vehicles- as well as the lost time and money spent cleaning up the mess- and are growing increasingly fearful that the midnight bombardments may never end.

One local is so annoyed she is even thinking about staging a stake-out in the hope of catching the offenders in the act.

Mrs Walker, who parks her convertible BMW outside her home every night, said: ‘The first time it happened I thought maybe I had upset someone.

‘It was splattered with eggs all up one side. But now I have realised it has been happening all over the estate.

‘I initially thought it might be kids, then a parking vigilante, but now I just don’t know. I might actually sit outside and watch next Friday night.’

She also reported that her son’s car was also attacked while he was in it.

The concerned mum added: ‘He had just got home from work and was still sitting in his car on the phone, parked right outside our house.

‘He thinks it must have been thrown from a distance by someone on foot from a side alley.’

Another neighbour, who did not want to be named, said her motor had been egged on three separate occasions – even though she had deliberately parked it in different spots on the road.

Residents with doorbell cameras have been scouring footage in the hope of finding the mysterious vandal – but with no luck.

Dartford Borough Councillor David Mote has encouraged residents to continue reporting every incident by calling 101.

He said: ‘Whoever is doing this may think they are having a laugh but it is anti-social behaviour and it can cause criminal damage.’

A spokesman for Kent Police said: ‘We have received a report of criminal damage where eggs were reported to have been thrown over a parked car in Ingress Park, Greenhithe, at around 11pm on February 17. No suspects were identified and no arrests made.’
