IanTnewblueThat’s what beats me. These companies are taking their customers for a ride and there seems no oversight of that. Why do long standing customers get worse deals than new ones (rhetorical)?
YOU are the one with the power here so use it to your advantage. Both companies want your money, so play them off against each other.

Of course I agree but it doesn’t stop it being bizarre. I’ve had offers from both and finally accepted to remain with Virgin as they’ve offered 45% reduction on their original fiction price but I’ve added a larger tv package that includes BT and I’ve also got sky sports.
Doesn’t really make sense. I guess they must make a calculation knowing what competitors are offering , but also taking into account that some people will accept an increase through inertia, some will be fibbed off with as little reduction as possible, some will go anyway. Because of the nature of the business it has less intrinsic ‘embedded’ value so it really is about charging what they can blag. I would think some regulation is overdue - we have a low opinion of many financial products in terms of how they are promoted and by who but there is at least some control and oversight of it.
