Iran Calls for Formation of Inclusive Government in Afghanistan
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated that while Tehran does not recognize the Afghan interim administration, it will continue cooperating with Afghanistan.
The foreign minister of Iran, Abdollahian, at a press conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, called for the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan.
“We do not recognize (it), and we hope to have negotiations with the officials of the Islamic Emirate and see the formation of an inclusive government soon,” ToloNews quoted Abdollahian as saying.
Earlier, the Taliban government advised its neighbours to refrain from interfering in Afghanistan’s domestic matters to maintain good relations with all of them, said Bilal Karimi, deputy spokesman of the Taliban administration.
However, with the fall of the Afghan government and the Taliban’s return to power in August of last year, the situation for human rights in Afghanistan has worsened.
A recent report by United Nations stated that the Afghanistan situation is a severe matter of concern regarding women’s rights.
It also added that half of the population in Afghanistan is confined to their homes amid a severe humanitarian and economic crisis.
The Taliban government was urged in the statement to immediately revoke all decrees about women’s employment and education to serve the Afghan people’s needs.
Meanwhile, the regional countries and the international communities repeatedly urged for an inclusive government in the country to include women, ethnic and religious groups, and political parties.
