Report explains development on Harry Kane’s future amid Conte uncertainty

The Daily Mail have revealed that Harry Kane will not make a decision on his future until the end of the season.

Kane is now into the final 15 months of his contract at Tottenham (Transfermarkt) and reports over recent days have indicated that Manchester United are confident of snapping up the 29-year-old if the North London club fail to finish in the top four this season (The Sun).

In an interview with The Evening Standard on Thursday, the England captain admitted that the results over the last week have been extremely disappointing and that a top-four finish alone is not enough for Spurs this season.

The Mail have now stated that Kane will wait until the summer to hold a conversation with the Tottenham hierarchy over a potential contract extension.

The report suggests that Mauricio Pochettino’s potential return to the club could help persuade the striker to commit his future to the club.

However, it is explained that while Daniel Levy sees the merit of a Pochettino return, there is not unanimous support among the hierarchy for the re-appointment of the Argentine.

There is absolutely no reason for Kane to enter into contract talks until he finds out if Tottenham are in next season’s Champions League and who the club appoint to take over from Conte.

I still think that the club would fancy their chances of tying down the striker to a new deal if they get into the top four.

However, that seems like a big ‘if’ for the moment, given the doom and gloom surrounding the club.
