Love Island ditch ‘cursed’ final feature that’s split up FOUR couples
LOVE Island has finally ditched a “cursed” feature from the show’s final week that has seen FOUR couples split on past series.
The ITV2 dating show skipped out on the element last night, as the remaining five couples headed on their final date.
Love Island fans watched on as the couples were whisked away from the villa on a series of romantic dates ahead of the final on Monday.
Viewers had long been predicting which couple would be picked for the different settings, with the pairings treated to different dates.
However, last night they noticed that one element had gone missing, after it was dubbed “cursed” by fans in a theory last year.
None of the couples were treated to a romantic boat date this series, which has long been a staple of the ITV2 final dates.
It came after a fan theory last series that the yacht trip causes couples to SPLIT, after four pairings failed to make it outside the villa following the date setting.
Last summer, Adam Collard and Paige Thorne were treated to the yacht trip, which saw them cuddling up to one another.
But viewers knew it spelled trouble for the pair, and correctly predicted they would split weeks after the show ended.
Adam, 27, and Paige, 24, went their separate ways after she claimed he “ghosted” her ahead of cheating allegations.
The PT was accused with flirting with other girls – and was spotted with his arms around another woman on a night out.
The “curse” followed on from the previous year, where Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish head out onto the water in 2021.
But the fan-favourite coupled then split shortly after while still in the villa, leaving Millie Court and Liam Reardon to be crowned winners.
In 2019, winning couple Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea were treated to a romantic boat trip and went on to take home the prize money.
But just weeks after leaving the villa, it was all over for the couple.
While in 2018, Megan Barton-Hanson and Wes Nelson also headed out on the luxurious yacht trip – before disaster struck.
Megan, 29, announced her split from her Love Island beau months later, after a so-called feud with Wes’ Dancing On Ice partner.
Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes were the “lucky” ones during series three in 2017 – and survived until the end of the show.
However, less than a year after meeting in the villa the couple confirmed they had decided to split up.
Over in on Love Island USA, series one stars Zac Mirabelli and Elizabeth Weber and series three’s Will Moncada and Kyra Lizama also went on boat trips for their final dates.
Despite winning their series in August 2019 Zac and Elizabeth were single by the end of the year, while Will and Kyra broke up shortly after leaving the show.
And, as for Love Island Australia, eventual series one winners Grant Crapp and Tayla Damir split just two weeks after their series ended – after also taking a ride on the water together.
Last night, fans spotted how the boat trip had been scrapped, and admitted they were glad to see the back of it.
One wrote to Twitter: “They have actually scrapped the infamously cursed yacht date,” as another chimed in: “Don’t curse anyone with the yacht date.”
