Mill Valley house fire leaves 1 dead
The occupant of a Mill Valley residence was pronounced dead after a fire at the home.
Firefighters forced their way into the home at 27 Midway Ave. on Thursday after neighbors reported smoke, according to a statement from the Southern Marin Fire Protection District.
Firefighters rescued a victim from the kitchen area, but the person “was later determined to be deceased” after being taken to MarinHealth Medical Center, according to the statement. The victim’s name has not been released.
The Marin County Fire Department, Tiburon Fire Protection District, Central Marin Fire Department, Marin County Sheriff’s Office and Pacific Gas & Electric Co. also responded.
The fire caused an estimated $500,000 worth of damage. The cause remains under investigation.
