A ruling by the ministry of corporate affairs (MCA) has struck at the core of the modus operandi of several small companies to raise money using fintech platforms that connect businesses with investors. According to a March 1, 2023 order by the Registrar of Companies (RoC) of NCR, such fund mobilisation is a violation of private placement rules under the Companies Act.
