Report: Spurs not contemplating sale of key player; early talks held over new deal
The Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy are determined to reach a new contract agreement with Harry Kane to keep the talismanic forward in north London, according to The Athletic.
The 29-year-old’s current deal is set to expire at the end of next season and with Tottenham having failed to win silverware for a fifteenth successive year, his future at the club has been called into question.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is said to have set his sights on making the England captain their main strike target this summer (Manchester Evening News).
Kane was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in the summer of 2021, with Pep Guardiola admitting that contact was made on four occasions with Tottenham but were not prepared to sell (Sky Sports).
City instead went on to switch their attention to Erling Haaland with the Norwegian currently leading Kane in the Premier League goalscoring charts.
The report claims that talks are currently not at an advanced stage, however, the club are not contemplating selling Kane who at the weekend netted his 19th and 20th Premier League goals of the season in the 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest.
Tottenham’s complete focus is on Kane’s contractual situation and are prepared to continue discussions into next season should it be required.

Manchester United appears to be the only realistic move for him should he decide to move on but stay in England this summer, however, Daniel Levy has previously been reluctant to deal with the Old Trafford outfit since the Dimitar Berbatov saga.
Kane deserves trophies, he has given his all to the club and it would take a considerable offer and if Conte is to leave, the right manager to somehow persuade him to remain in N17 for the rest of his career.
The striker is simply irreplaceable and remains to be seen whether a £100m+ plus would be enough to turn Levy’s head or keep him until his contract expires.
