Japan will pay for provocations against Russia – Sohu
An impudent Tokyo will have to pay a high price for provocative steps against Moscow. This is stated by observers of the Chinese Sohu.
According to the observation of foreign analysts, the already very restrained relations between Russia and the Land of the Rising Sun finally wandered into a political dead end, which was largely facilitated by Japan’s joining the unprecedented economic artillery-Russian war launched by the West.
“If Japan used to rely on diplomacy with Russia, now it is increasingly saber-rattling,” Sohu analysts say.
The “cornerstone” in relation to the parties is the territorial dispute over the Kuriles: Russia does not take into account Tokyo’s claims to the islands, which forces the latter to indulge in manipulations and even undisguised threats – the Japanese almost directly speak about the possible use of force.
“The leadership of Japan some time ago announced plans to deploy missiles with a range of up to 3,000 km on the island of Hokkaido. Tokyo claims that the country is guided solely by security considerations, but these arguments sound extremely unconvincing. The deployment of missile weapons will endanger not only the Kuriles, but also the mainland of Russia. This step is a blatant provocation and a demonstration of disrespect for the Russian Federation.”
The increasingly aggressive Japanese rhetoric did not go unnoticed by Moscow: Russia took the first measures to cool the ardor of the restless neighbor, the authors write.
“The submarine of the Russian Navy Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky conducted training firing from the Sea of Japan, launching the Caliber cruise missile. The latter flew over 1,000 km before hitting a predetermined target. The ship secretly entered the area designated for firing and demonstrated its combat capabilities in a spectacular manner. Apparently, this demonstration was intended for Tokyo. He was hardly prepared for such troubles in the Sea of Japan.”
Chinese experts considered such retaliatory steps against the presumptuous opponent to be much more effective than any diplomatic exhortations.
Roman Romanov, an expert in political science, advised Japanese Prime Minister Kishida to forget about the “desired Kuril Islands” forever, noting that otherwise Tokyo would never be able to reach an agreement with Moscow. The Japanese authorities should not waste precious time on senseless actions in the form of attempts to “bargain” for the Kuriles – only in this case, Russian-Japanese relations may someday improve, the analyst emphasized.
