On the Road to Wichita State

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 7 Arkansas (20-6) commences a four-game road swing as it hits the road to Wichita State (19-5) for a midweek tilt Tuesday, March 14, at Wilkins Stadium. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+.

Series History
Arkansas and Wichita State meet for the 15th time in history Tuesday evening. The Razorbacks lead the all-time series 10-4 with the most recent matchup taking place on Feb. 19, 2022, in Fayetteville. Arkansas defeated the Shockers, 7-4, at the Razorback Invitational. Arkansas has won the last five meetings.

Wichita State is no stranger to the Razorbacks as the Shockers were also a participant in the 2022 NCAA Fayetteville Regional, but did not face Arkansas.

The Hogs battle in Wichita for the fourth time in history and the first time since the 2018 season. The Shockers claimed a 1-0 decision on March 6, 2018.

The inaugural meeting took place on Feb. 27, 1999, in Las Cruces, N.M. with Arkansas sweeping a doubleheader (7-4, 1-0).

The LoLo Show
Freshman catcher Lauren Camenzind has been a force at the dish and behind the plate. The Valley, Neb., product is coming off a weekend where she slashed .571/.714/.571 with four hits, three RBs, five total bases and threw out two would-be base stealers. Camenzind recorded a 1.000 fielding percentage. Camenzind cracked Arkansas’ starting lineup at catcher on Feb. 24 in a double dip vs. No. 19 Arizona and Drake. In 17 games, Camenzind ranks second on the team in batting average (.391) (min. 10 ABs) and has produced three multi-hit games.

Leading Things Off
Freshman center fielder Reagan Johnson leads the SEC (ranks 14th nationally) in hits with 36 five weeks into the season. The Karnes City, Texas, product sports a .391 batting average and .430 on base percentage with 36 hits, 23 runs scored, six RBIs, two doubles, two triples, 12 stolen bases on 12 attempts and 42 total bases. Holding it down in center, Johnson has posted a .975 fielding percentage on 40 total chances.

HedgeBomb
Redshirt junior Rylin Hedgecock is fourth in the nation and second in the SEC in home runs with 11 on the season. Hedgecock notched her first game with multiple home runs after towering two against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on March 3. Hedgecock ranks fifth nationally and second in the league in home runs per game, averaging 0.42.

Walk It Out
The Hogs check in fourth nationally in walks after drawing 108 in 26 games this season.

Arkansas treks to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to tussle with the No. 9 Crimson Tide on March 18-20 at Rhoads Stadium. All three games will air on SEC Network. Saturday’s first pitch is set for 4:30 p.m. CT. Sunday and Monday are scheduled for 5 and 6 p.m.
