Maya Gemstone launches The Odyssey collection

Maya Gemstone has recently announced the launch of The Odyssey, a futuristic jewellery capsule collection. 

Inspired by her interest in technology and micro-mechanics, founder Olga Pekarevskaia designed The Odyssey to be a protective talisman collection with a slick monochrome aesthetic. Each piece has a unique concept, with an encased matte white enamel surrounded by a ring of diamonds. At the centre, a shiny black metal was added to repel bad energy from the wearer. 

Maya Gemstone has quickly become a luxury jewellery brand since its launch in 2018 and this is mainly due to a unique selling point. The brand, in fact, has its very own patented cut of stone, named the ‘Maya cut’, with a triangular form and 28 facets. 

Each piece of the new collection, which is currently comprised of a ring and an oversized pendant, contains a “Maya cut” sapphire which represents the Maia Star, the fourth brightest star in the Pleiades constellation.

On the launch of the collection, Pekarevskaia commented: “The Odyssey was born out of a love for modern art, futuristic architecture, technology and the concept of space exploration – there’s something very cathartic about the freedom of space, and despite space travel being a relatively new feat, the solar system is steeped in mythological history.

“I love to experiment with different metals and textures, but we had to use difficult techniques to master the mix of smooth and reflective surfaces with The Odyssey, the ‘Maya cut’ sapphire is also encased in a way that makes it look like it’s a star in the distance. We hope our customers love it as much as we do.”
