Four delightful homemade gift ideas to help you save this Mothers Day
GET crafty this Mother’s Day and make your loved one a gift that comes from the heart.
Not only can a homemade present save cash, the personal touch means it is truly special.
Here are four ideas to try.
SPELL IT OUT: Mums will be lost for words with a personalised Scrabble-inspired word art.
Shadow box frames work best — Hobbycraft sells these from £2 depending on size.
Then use letters to create a number of words.
You could have MUM in the middle and use the M to interlink it with FAMILY, then use the L to spell out LOVE.
Hobbycraft has a pack of wooden letters, £4, which you will need to glue in place.
Or wood-effect letter stickers cost £1.50 so there will be no need for glue.
MAKE A CAKE: Set aside some time to whip up a special bake.
There is no shortage of recipes online but for those less gifted in the kitchen, Betty Crocker’s ready-made mixes are usually a failsafe option.
They cost £2.99 at Morrisons.
The supermarket currently has a two-for-£5 offer on mixes if you fancy making a couple of different options.
You could go one step further by preparing finger sandwiches to lay on a delightful afternoon tea.
WALL ART: Macrame wall hangings look impressive and are relatively easy to make.
Hobbycraft sells a £10 starter kit, including a bundle of yarn and two wooden dowels.

SAY IT WITH CHOCOLATE: A chocolate message board is a sweet touch.
Just play around with different bars to make phrases.
An easy one is “You’re the best Mum in the” and end with a Galaxy or Milky Way bar.
Or try “Thanks for always giving me a” and use a Boost bar.
Print the phrases on paper, leaving enough space for the chocolate bar, then print out and glue the paper on to card.
Finish by sticking the chocolate in position.
