Sky journo shares Man Utd takeover update after 10-hr meeting as new deadline revealed

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is expected to make a fresh bid for Manchester United within ten days, reports Kaveh Solhekol.

The Sky Sports journalist took to Twitter to provide updates on the Red Devils takeover.

Sheikh Jassim’s representatives were at Carrington training ground yesterday for a meeting, which lasted ten hours.

His initial bid is below what the Glazers want, and a second bid is expected.

Having been given much-needed information about Man United, the bidders are expected to return with improved offers.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to meet with the Red Devils today for his meeting.

The British billionaire will also be expected to submit a new bid before the March 27 deadline.

It could come down to who the highest bidder is, but it has to be big enough to convince the Glazers.

One of the reasons the face-to-face meetings were set up is to convince Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim that Man United are worth £6 billion.

None of them has bid more than £4.5bn, and whether they will meet the Glazers’ demand remains to be seen.

There are other unnamed investors keen on acquiring stakes in the club.

However, not much is known about them as only Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim have gone public with their takeover ambitions.

Man United are hoping to get the bidding process completed very quickly.

Bidders have until a few days to the end of the month to come up with new offers.

If the owners approve, the rigorous Premier League owners and directors test will follow, which could be time-consuming.
