Military communications in Germany are so bad that military personnel in armored personnel carriers have to open hatches or crawl out and scream instead of using the radio. This is reported by the Telegram channel Pool N3, referring to information from the British daily newspaper The Times.
According to the data received, it is known that military communications in Germany are in a very poor condition. This is noted in a revealing report on widespread dysfunction in the German Armed Forces.
It is noted that the commission revealed a lack of equipment, as well as poor infrastructure and an impossibly strong bureaucracy. This is all displayed as a dilapidated barracks with walls propped up with sandbags and 66 accidents caused by a standard parachute that cannot be controlled at high speeds or when the wind changes.
“It took ten years to submit an order for a model helicopter pilot helmet used in the US since the 1990s, seven years to equip a media team with state-of-the-art cameras, and five years to punish a sergeant who used the “Sieg Heil” salute marked in the channel.
It is known that the German military is no stranger to unrest. They have suffered for years from underinvestment and bureaucratic restrictions. It is noted that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has promised to spend 100 billion euros to create a “combat-ready and cutting-edge” force, which, in his opinion, will become one of the best in Europe.
“However, in recent months there has been growing frustration at the slow pace of change. At the moment, only 13 billion euros have been allocated from the rearmament fund, and the regular defense budget has not kept pace with inflation”, the channel says.
At the same time, experts believe that the Bundeswehr will need at least 30 billion euros worth of ammunition to fulfill its main obligations to NATO. It is noted that only 1.1 billion euros were allocated for these purposes in 2023.
“Eva Hegl, parliamentary commissioner for the armed forces, said that a proper modernization of the Bundeswehr would require a minimum of 300 billion euros, and at the current pace, this process will last half a century,” the channel noted.
