Bay Bridge lanes blocked after big-rig overturns
SAN FRANCISCO – Four eastbound lanes of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge were blocked Tuesday after a big-rig overturned, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The big-rig overturned just east of the 1st Street on-ramp, the CHP said in a social media post just after 4:30 p.m..
The CHP asked all trucks to exit at 4th Street.
“Please do no attempt to cross the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge at this time,” the agency said in a follow-up post. “There is not sufficient clearance for any trucks to pass the overturned truck (and) it will only create further congestion.”
Around 5:40 p.m., the left-most and right-most lanes were temporarily opened west of Treasure Island. The CHP said all lanes would be closed again when emergency crews arrive to upright the big-rig.
