Anneka Rice reunites with cast and crew of original Challenge Anneka thirty years after show
ANNEKA Rice has reunited with the cast and crew of her original show Challenge Anneka 30 years on.
The TV and radio presenter, 64, presented the beloved programme between 1989 and 1995.
It saw Anneka being set a series of challenges that she had just days to complete.
The star usually had to convince companies and organisations to offer their services for free, with the task typically being for a charitable cause.
And now the former BBC Radio 2 presenter has fans feeling nostalgic as she posted a group picture of the cast and crew from the show.
Taking to her official Instagram account, she told her followers: “Met up with some of my old Challenge gang last night.
“We’ve all stayed friends. They call themselves The Concrete Girls. If you want a group of inspiring women look no further.
“They were all under 30 when we started Challenge, an all girl team, smashing the glass ceiling, becoming instant experts in concrete and PLY, and in charge of hundreds of volunteers and builders over the years, making tv that broke the mould.
“Epic women, I salute you.”
The picture comes after Channel 5 confirmed it was reviving the 90s series with brand new episodes.
The Sun exclusively revealed back in March 2022 that Challenge Anneka was returning.
Challenge Anneka started on Saturday March 18.
The new series promises Challenges that are bigger than ever before, from building a new home for dozens of abandoned dogs in Kent, to creating a new outdoor centre for vulnerable teens.
Other Challenges include constructing an entire ‘memory village’ for dementia sufferers in the Wirral and building a giant food hub, kitchen and café for a whole community in Stockton.
The team have just three days to complete each project.
With sidekick Dave the soundman in tow, Anneka and her army must hit the ground running, grasp the big challenge and harness the power of hundreds of helpers, trades, experts and the local community to help her make people’s dreams come true.
