Cameron Boozer, 15, named Gatorade National Player of the Year

Cameron Boozer, the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2025 and arguably the No. 1 prospect in the country, has been named the Gatorade National Player of the Year.
The 6-foot-9 forward, and son of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, is just the second sophomore to ever win the award (Emoni Bates, 2020).
He joins the likes of NBA stars Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Jayson Tatum, and Karl Anthony Towns, who all won the award in their senior years.
“It’s crazy to be included in such a talented group of players,” Boozer told Yahoo Sports. “All the past players have had great careers in the NBA, and it’s kind of surreal to be included in a list with all those guys.”
The 15 year old updated his recruitment to ZAGSBLOG back in December: “I’m just taking it slow,” Boozer said in an interview. “I’m not really worried about that right now. I’m still pretty young, so I’m just taking my time and making sure I’m looking at all my options.”
Cam and his brother Cayden have taken one unofficial visit this college basketball season, checking in to see the University of Florida on November 11.
The duo have made it clear that they won’t necessarily follow in their father’s footsteps by going to the presumable favorite Duke.
“[Duke] is a great school,” Cameron told ZAGSBLOG. “They have a long history of winning. They’re just a winning program in general. Obviously, I’m going to take a look but everyone talks about me being a lock, but I’m not a Duke lock. I’m going to look at all the schools and see what the best school is for me.”
Boozer now looks forward to his junior year at Christopher Columbus High School (FL.), where he can also begin taking official visits after Jan. 1 of 2024.
