DEAR DEIDRE: IT feels like my life has ended since I was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I’m worried sick about what the future will hold.
I’m 62 and I first found out that I had middle-stage Alzheimer’s four months ago.
My diagnosis came as a surprise, as I initially visited the doctor about my mental health.
I hadn’t quite prepared myself for the earth-shattering news that I had a terminal illness.
I’ve been trying my best to stay positive, but coming to terms with it has been difficult, and no matter what I do I can’t shake the anxious thoughts.
My wife is torn apart, and while she’s been so supportive I can see how it’s affecting her.
To make matters worse I’ve had no communication from the doctor, and my next appointment is months away.
My nerves are at an all-time high, and I’m terrified about what will happen to me.
