I worked at McDonald’s and there’s an item we wish you’d stop ordering, you’ll only end up with the wrong thing
A FORMER McDonald’s employee has taken social media to reveal what it was really like working for the fast-food chain.
Posting on TikTok about working for the chain, young mum Trish (@trissmariee) noted: “What it’s like working at McDonald’s.”
Trish revealed that she worked for the popular chain for two and a half years and described her experience there as “hell.”
In her clip, she acted out a common scenario between her and a customer, explaining what not to order if you want a chicken burger.
Trish explained that people would often ask for a “cheap chicken sandwich” and wouldn’t realise that they would get the McChicken burger.
Acting as a customer, Trish asked: “Just get me your cheapest chicken sandwich, with only mayo and lettuce.”
To this, Trish, as the McDonald’s employee, responded: “Alright, I got you one McChicken, is that it?”
However, the customer wasn’t happy with this and replied: “What? No. I wanted your cheapest chicken sandwich, with only mayo and only lettuce.”
Trish then confirmed: “Ok well guess what, I don’t get paid enough to play stupid games with you. Our cheapest chicken sandwich is McChicken and guess what comes on it, ding ding ding, mayo and lettuce.”
But the customer still wasn’t pleased and rudely responded: “The customer is always right, I think you should just ring in what I said.”
As Trish put the McChicken burger in the till, she asked: “Alright, anything else for you?”
To which the customer again questioned: “Why does it still say McChicken on the screen?”
Trish then firmly said: “Because again, that is what the sandwich is called. Is that everything?”
But the conversation ended with the customer stating: “Just know, if my sandwich is made wrong, I’m not paying for it.”
Trish’s clip has clearly made many chuckle, as it has quickly racked up 171.4k views.
It has 35.2k likes, 166 comments and 70 shares.
Many McDonald’s employee and hospitality workers could relate to Trish’s video and were eager to express this in the comments.
One person said: “I work in fast food as well and this is so accurate.”
Another added: “BRO THIS IS SO REAL.”
A third commented: “This happened to me so many times working at McDonald’s. I HATED it.”
Meanwhile, another ex-McDonald’s worker chimed in: “The accuracy hurts more than my time working there.”
Whilst someone else noted: “As a manager of a restaurant…I hate when customers think they know better than the managers or even the crew members. We work here 6 days a week.”
