DEAR DEIDRE: MY friend has admitted to me that he’s an alcoholic and has asked me for help.
I’ve suggested Alcoholics Anonymous, but he doesn’t want to go to meetings. Can you suggest an alternative?
I am proud that after all this time he has admitted he has a problem, but I don’t know what to say to him.
I am a 41-year-old man and my friend is 43.
He has been through a lot in his life and turned to the bottle when everything got on top of him.
