Statistics show how Conte win rate compares to other Spurs coaches in the PL era

Opta have revealed that Antonio Conte has the second-best points-per-game ratio of any manager that Tottenham Hotspur have had in the Premier League era.

The Conte era at Spurs began in extremely promising fashion, with the Italian helping the club qualify for the Champions League against the odds last season.

After the club strengthened the squad significantly last summer, the Lilywhites were expected by many to push on this season but instead, they appear to have been tactically found out by the opposition teams, with Conte refusing to change his system.

The writing has been on the wall for the 53-year-old for several weeks, with Tottenham finally announcing on Sunday that they had parted ways with him, with Cristin Stellini to take over as interim head coach until the end of the season.

Despite the way things have ended for Conte at Spurs, OptaJoe have pointed out that the Italian has a points-per-game ratio of 1.88 at Spurs, which is only bettered by Mauricio Pochettino’s 1.89.

Spurs Web Opinion

Just looking at the points per game does not paint a fair picture as Conte’s record was clearly trending downward over the last few months. It is much harder to sustain a good ratio over the long term like Pochettino did over a five-and-a-half-year period.

Conte has also been backed a lot more in the transfer window over a relatively short space of time than almost any other manager Spurs have had in the Premier League era.
