Vermont State Police say it could be months before the cause and manner of death is determined for a man found dead in a Bennington police holding cell. A preliminary state police investigation says there is no indication Bennington Police used physical force on 33-year-old Darrell Jones, who was found dead on Thursday afternoon, less than an hour after he had been placed in a holding cell. Jones was one of three suspects who had been arrested on drug charges. An officer spotted Jones sitting on the floor and leaning against the wall. Police say the officer immediately began providing medical care and called an ambulance, but Jones was pronounced dead.
