Meriden police make pair of child pornography arrests
Police in Meriden have arrested two people on child pornography charges just days apart from one another.
Andrew Adams, 42, was arrested Friday on one count of possession of child pornography in an investigation Meriden police noted was unrelated to a similar arrest just days prior.
“The timing of this arrest and Tuesday’s child pornography arrest are coincidental but we want the public to know that we are always ready to investigate these types of cases to be the voice of the children negatively impacted by child exploitation,” Meriden police said in a statement about the arrests.
The previous arrest police alluded to involved Shamalle Upton, 22, who was also charged with possession of child pornography. In that case, Meriden police said their Special Crimes Unit began an investigation in November 2022 along with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
“Persons purchasing child pornography is a main driving factor for the continued production of such material, which is why we work diligently with our partner agencies in an attempt to prevent further child exploitation,” Meriden police said.
