Former St. John’s guard Rafael Pinzon has transferred to Bryant, a source told ZAGSBLOG.
The Puerto Rican native is one of eight St. John’s players to transfer out of the program as Rick Pitino continues to overhaul his roster just one week in.
Pinzon averaged 6.1 points per game on 42.1% shooting last season for the Johnnies.
The 6-foot-6 guard originally committed to St. John’s over Florida and New Mexico back in 2020, but chooses once again to stay on the East Coast at Bryant.
As for what Pinzon will bring to the Bulldogs he attributes his versatility and fast-play.
“I can play and guard three positions,” he said during his commitment to St. John’s. “They like to play fast and I like to score in transition.”
“He’s a high-IQ guard who can fill it up from all three levels at 6-foot-6,” said NY Jayhawks director Jay David. “He’s great defensively and can guard 1-3.”
Pinzon will have at least two years of eligibility remaining. He is the lone newcomer for Bryant thus far.
