Devastated parents of girl, 15, killed in horror house fire suffering ‘unimaginable pain’ – as cause of death revealed
THE devastated parents of the girl killed when an inferno ripped through a block of flats are suffering “unimaginable pain”.
Tiffany Regis, 15, tragically died in the Beckton, East London blaze which broke out around 5.30pm on Thursday.
Police today named the teen as the victim of the horror fire.
They said post mortem revealed she died from smoke inhalation.
In the hours after the blaze the cops arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of murder, with the fire being treated as arson.
Officers this afternoon said the teen had been released on bail until early May as they continue to investigate the horror fire.
Police said the formal identification process had been undertaken and while it was not definite, they were confident the teen who died was Tiffany.
Mayor of Newham Rokhsana Fiaz said the 15-year-old’s family were struggling to come to terms with her death.
The mayor said: “Tiffany’s parents are going through unimaginable pain at the loss of their much loved 15-year-old daughter who brought so much joy.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Tiffany’s parents, family and friends at this very difficult and heartbreaking time.”
Pals previously said Tiffany had been hosting a party at the second-floor flat when the horror unfolded.
Police are now asking those who were at the flat to come forward and help with the probe.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “I know that there were a number of young people and residents inside the address before the fire happened and our enquiries are ongoing to identify everyone who was there, not least of all to ensure that everyone is okay.
“We are at the very early stages of our investigation and are still keen to hear from anyone who was present or has any information but has not yet spoken with police. Please get in touch.”
Tributes started pouring in for Tiffany in recent days.
One pal said: “We’re heartbroken. It’s awful. Tiffany was wonderful. Such a lovely girl. She brightened up the world.
“Everyone around here knew her. Our hearts are shattered.”
