Little Down Under
Pontypridd RFC can confirm that second-row James Little will be leaving the Club, and indeed the country to move to Perth, Western Australia.
James joined Ponty in readiness for the 2020/21 season but due to the Covid-19 pandemic he had to wait until September 2021 to make his debut for the Club. James made his mark as an abrasive lock in the successful Coleg y Cymoedd squad and turned out for Cardiff Met whilst completing his studies there, gaining international honours for Wales at student and youth levels prior to joining Pontypridd.
Talking about how his move to Australia came about James said: “A club in Perth, Australia, were shown my clips from last season and following that, I was offered an opportunity to live and play rugby over there. The club have assisted with accommodation and a car as well as help securing a job for my girlfriend and I. Although risky and a very tough to decision to leave, I do think it’s the right one.”
On playing for Pontypridd, he said: “It was always a goal of mine since a boy to play for Ponty and I have loved my time here. After getting off to a slow start with covid preventing my first official season, I’ve really enjoyed the last two seasons. I’ve become really close with a lot of the group, I’ve learnt a lot from the coaches, and also made friends with some fans. I’m gutted to be missing the last few games through injury but despite the ups and downs and the tough losses, it’s been a privilege to play for such a famous club and I’ll definitely be supporting each week from down under.”
On James’ move, Ponty Team Manager Dan Godfrey commented: “James has worn the Ponty jersey with pride. He has an amazing opportunity to move to Australia and he goes with our full support. We wish him all the very best, and hope to see him back at Sardis one day.”
James has made 24 appearances for Pontypridd RFC and we would like to both thank James for his efforts whilst playing for the Club and wish him and his girlfriend all the very best on their adventure Down Under.
