Thousands without power in Prince George’s Co. after single vehicle crash
More than 6,500 homes are without power in Prince George’s County, Maryland, after a car crashed into a utility pole.
A Pepco spokesperson told WTOP the outage was caused by a car that collided with a utility pole on the 4100 block of Brinkley Road in Temple Hills.
The downed pole caused a power substation to lose functionality, triggering power losses throughout the area.
There is no timetable yet for when power will be back, but Pepco said that crews are currently on the scene to assess the damage and get power back online as soon as possible.
Below is where the car hit the utility pole, damaging a power substation.
