Boy, 3, rushed to hospital after being attacked by XL Bully dog
A three-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after he was attacked by a XL bully dog.
The incident took place on Spalton Road in the Parkgate area of Rotherham, South Yorkshire at 2pm on Monday.
The boy received injuries to his head and reportedly needed stitches.
South Yorkshire Police say the dog has been seized and a 42-year-old woman bailed after being arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control, the Mirror reports.
A police investigation has now been launched.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: ‘We were called to reports of a dog attack on Spalton Road, Parkgate, Rotherham at 2.08pm on Monday (17 April).
‘Officers attended the scene and an XL Bully dog was seized from a property on the road.
‘A three-year-old boy was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.’
Elsewhere, police are appealing after the tragic death of a dog in South Yorkshire.
On Sunday, April 16, at around 6.40am, a woman was walking with her two dogs across fields between Maltby and Braithwell, when she came across a man with three dogs.
It’s reported that two of them then attacked one of the woman’s dogs, five-year-old Tadi, who died as a result of his injuries.
The man said to have left the scene with his three dogs without giving the woman his contact details.
His two dogs, which were not on a lead at the time of the attack, are described as black lurcher/bulldog crosses. The man also had cream puppy with him.
The man is described as being white, aged between 35 and 45, with dark hair and of medium build.
