Report outlines Tottenham’s plan if they cannot get Julian Nagelsmann
The Independent have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to turn their attention to Arne Slot if a move for Julian Nagelsmann does not prove fruitful.
Soon after Nagelsmann pulled out of the race for the Chelsea job, it emerged that the German was now concentrating his attention on talks to replace Antonio Conte at Spurs (Sport Bild).
The Telegraph reported on Monday that the German had indeed emerged as Tottenham’s top target but the report explained that he wants some ‘cast-iron assurances’ before accepting the job.
This allegedly included guarantees over the size of the wage bill and the quality of players he would be able to sign as part of a squad rebuild.
The Independent have now reported something similar, explaining that Nagelsmann is open to hearing what Tottenham offer but the 35-year-old would want ‘a decisive say in transfer dealings’ if he is to accept the job.
The publication adds that Daniel Levy ‘will make a strong attempt’ to persuade the former Bayern Munich boss and if he is unable to do so, Slot would become the leading candidate for the role.

Levy is under pressure to do what it takes to convince Nagelsmann, particularly as it seems like Pochettino might be on his way to Chelsea.
While Slot has shown plenty of promise at Feyenoord, he remains unproven at the top level and I am not sure if it would be well received by Spurs fans if we settle for the Dutchman after allowing Chelsea to swoop for Poch.
