Newcastle transfer news: Bookies rank SEVEN most likely signings this summer

NEWCASTLE are expected to make a splash in the summer transfer market with European football coming to St James’ Park.

Bookmakers Betfair have revealed their SEVEN most likely incomings, and ranked who is favourite to join Eddie Howe in Tyneside next season.

The Magpies are well placed for a top-four finish, and reports suggest Howe will be handed a sizeable war chest to help his side compete in the Champions League.

SunSport understand the club’s owners will make upwards of £150million available for recruitment, which will be needed if the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea return to form in the 2023-24 campaign.

Kieran Tierney – 5/4

Betfair believe Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney is the most likely addition to Howe’s squad at 5/4.

Dan Burn has impressed at left-back, but is a better option centrally, and £30million-rated Tierney wants more minutes having started just five league matches for the Gunners.

Kalvin Phillips – 2/1

The Manchester City midfielder’s future is under the microscope after a nightmare debut campaign for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The England international, 27, has managed just 16 appearances during an injury-plagued campaign, totalling 405 minutes of action for the reigning champions.

He’s 2/1 to join Newcastle, but Liverpool are reportedly planning a £35m raid with Jurgen Klopp particularly keen on Phillips.

James Ward-Prowse – 2/1

There’s no shortage of interest in Southampton’s set-piece specialist, who has been told he’ll be allowed to leave if Saints are relegated.

His versatility could make him particularly appealing, and Newcastle could have a real advantage after reports claimed that none of the ‘big six’ are showing interest.

James Maddison – 2/1

What a coup this would be, and Newcastle are 2/1 to get it over the line before the transfer window closes in September.

Maddison is viewed as a priority target, and his signature is considered achievable given he’s entered the final 18 months of his contract.

The Foxes value him at around £50m and would reportedly be open to selling this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2024.

Scott McTominay – 9/4

Eddie Howe wants a defensive midfielder and Manchester United’s Scott McTominay could fit the bill.

Newcastle have reportedly been told to stump up £50million if they wish to sign McTominay, who’s struggled to nail down a regular spot under Erik ten Hag.

Conor Gallagher – 5/1

Chelsea need to sell, and Conor Gallagher has no shortage of admirers.

The midfielder earned plaudits for his loan campaign but has struggled since his return to Stamford Bridge. It’s unclear whether or not Mauricio Pochettino (if he’s appointed) has plans for the 23-year-old, but current reports suggest he’s valued at £40m.

Ruben Neves – 6/1

This may finally be the summer that Ruben Neves bids farewell to Wolves.

The Portuguese international, 26, is routinely linked with a move away from Molineux but Wolves are now said got be ‘resigned to losing’ their midfielder this summer.

He’s out of contract in June 2024 and has no obvious plans to extend his stay.
