‘An exciting club’ – Ralf Rangnick suggests Nagelsmann should accept Spurs job
Ralf Rangnick has asked Julian Nagelsmann to take the Tottenham job, remarking that the marriage could be part of a ‘very exciting story’.
Multiple outlets have reported over the last week that Spurs have made Nagelsmann their top target to replace Antonio Conte (Telegraph and Independent).
However, there have been mixed reports on whether the German is likely to take the job, with Sport Bild claiming on Wednesday that he is ‘tempted’ to accept it while Football Insider have asserted that the North London club are not hopeful that the 35-year-old will take over.
Rangnick believes that the decision should be straightforward for Nagelsmann, claiming that Tottenham have everything in place to take the next step.
The former Manchester United head coach told Sky Germany: “I think Tottenham is an exciting club in many ways.
“They probably have some of the most modern, beautiful stadiums in the world at the moment.
“They have one of the best training centres, that is there at the moment and Daniel Levy, who has been leading the club for many, many years.
“Although he is not a big spender, he knows the football business and would not put himself in the centre of the cameras.”
Spurs are currently without a director of football following Fabio Paratici’s resignation and Rangnick believes that the North London club need to fill that void to give the former Bayern boss the best chance of success.
He continued: “If Tottenham really want him (Nagelsmann), then I think it would be important if a sporting director was still there to support him.”
Rangnick also suggested that the lack of major expectations at N17 would perhaps give Nagelsmann the time to build a project.
The 64-year-old added: “It can be a very, very exciting story. There is room for improvement, a lot of room for improvement and yet this is not a club where the house expects you to be in the top one or two straight away or three lands.”

The Tottenham job, in many ways, represents a great opportunity for Nagelsmann to further enhance his reputation.
If he succeeds where big names like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte have failed, his stock will grow considerably.
However, if he fails to win a trophy at the club, it would not be seen as being his fault, given the club’s lack of success over the last 15 years.
