Report: Daniel Levy ‘is tempted’ to hire 44-year-old manager at Tottenham

Gazzetta dello Sport have claimed that Daniel Levy is ‘tempted’ to hand the managerial job to Feyenoord boss Arne Slot.

If reports over the last few days are to be believed, Tottenham’s chances of landing Julian Nageslmann have now been boosted, with the Germain now at the top of the North London club’s wishlist (Telegraph).

However, the speculation linking Slot with a move to Spurs does not seem to be going away.

In fact, The Independent claimed on Monday that while Tottenham will make a ‘strong attempt’ to persuade Naglesmann to take the job, the club are expected to make Slot their top target if a move for the 35-year-old falls through.

Gazzetta have now offered an update on Tottenham’s managerial search, stating that the club are not close to hiring anyone at present.

The publication asserts that Vincent Kompany is not particularly interested in the role while Roberto De Zerbi does not want to leave the Amex Stadium.

That leaves Slot, with the report stating that Levy ‘is tempted’ to make a move for the Dutchman, especially given the success that his compatriot, Erik Ten Hag, has had at Man Utd since making the switch from the Eredivisie.

Spurs Web Opinion 

While Slot seems like a promising young manager, the drop-off from Nagelsmann to the Feyenoord boss is substantial, given that the latter is not proven at the highest level.

That is why it is quite bewildering why Spurs have seemingly not even reached out to Pochettino about a potential return.
