Schoolchildren narrowly evade blazing car rolling down hill before hitting bus
This is the shocking moment a car caught fire and rolled down a hill before smashing into a bus.
The jaw-dropping incident unfolded in the small village of West Vale near Halifax in West Yorkshire yesterday afternoon.
Schoolchildren on their way home were seen frantically running out of the way as a police officer waved them clear of danger.
The vehicle hurtled along the street engulfed in flames and collided with a wall before veering back onto the road.
As the kids just about made it to the pavement, the car ploughed through a police sign in the road.
It then careered further down the hill – dragging the police sign with it – and crashed head on with a stationary bus sat at the front of a queue of traffic.
The inferno was still tearing through the car after the smash as thick black smoke billowed into the sky.
Shortly beforehand, the car had reportedly caught alight at the top of the road.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed it had temporarily shut off Long Wall while firefighters dealt with the incident.
The bus had come to a standstill as part of the closure and was waiting for the road to reopen alongside other queueing motorists.
No one is believed to have been hurt, reports the Halifax Courier.
