Yet Another CVT Update
In early March, I was diagnosed with Cerebral Venous Thrombosis. That's a fancy doctor way of saying I have a blood clot on my brain. The day I got out of the hospital, I recorded this.
The last update was over a week ago, and now, for the first time in several weeks, there's actually news to share. I met with my Hematologist, got a CT scan, and spoke with my Neurologist. All the news is good.
The Hematologist says my blood is normal. That means I don't have a genetic disorder that would cause blood clots. At least not one that she tested me for.
The Neurologist reviewed my CT scan and was very pleased with how my brain is absorbing the clot. My clot isn't long for this world. It can go to hell in a hand basket.
But what about my headaches? If the blood clot is disappearing, why haven't the headaches followed suit? Well, as the Neurologist explained to me, my brain experienced some trauma here, and this is a normal reaction. At some point soon, they'll dissipate. In fact, I've noticed they've been far less severe this past week. It's the beginning of the end.
I'm still taking my blood thinners twice a day, and I've got an MRI scheduled for later this month to see if I suffered any brain damage. Follow up appointments with both the Haematologist and Neurologist are in the calendar.
I warned you I had nothing but good news. And because I don't have the genetic disorder, at some point I can get off blood thinners and donate blood again.
