Describing Bajrang Dal as a "patriotic organisation", Eshwarappa accused Congress leaders of trying to spread hatred among communities and likened the party's manifesto to the policies of Muhammad Ali Jinnah's Muslim League. The Congress in its manifesto had said that it was committed to take firm and decisive action against individuals and organisations spreading hatred amongst communities on grounds of caste and religion.
