Slack GPT is the newest AI chatbot that promises to make work easier
Workplace messaging platform, Slack, is getting an AI upgrade allowing it to provide conversation summaries and writing assistance.
On Thursday, its owner, Salesforce, introduced ‘Slack GPT’, a new conversational AI experience in Slack that can ‘transform how work gets done’.
The AI chatbot will allow users to adjust message tone, summarise huddles and get up to speed on unread messages.
For example, you could as the chatbot to take notes of everything on a Slack group call. It can also catch you up on the dozens of messages you’ve missed in a specific chat while you were out of the office.
With the new AI upgrades, workers can use simple prompts to automate tasks with AI.
For example, marketing professionals can use it to auto-generate copy and images for blogs, email campaigns, social media, and advertising directly into a channel for team collaboration.
Slack GPT will also work with Einstein GPT, Salesforce’s AI for customer relationship management, giving workers real-time customer data in Slack.
‘Generative AI has enormous potential to redefine how work is done and unlock significant business productivity. The real power of this technology is when AI can analyse and act on the most valuable data from a company’s most trusted resource — its own internal knowledge,’ said Lidiane Jones, CEO of Slack.
A new report from Slack found that people adopting AI are 90% more likely to report higher levels of productivity.
Those who use automations at work save an estimated 3.6 hours a week on average, equal to one working month a year.
Currently, just 27% of companies use AI tools to help increase efficiency.
In March, OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude were integrated into Slack, but they’re limited compared to the features announced today.
Still, the company’s AI features are a work in progress and are expected to be rolled out within the next year.
