Hit BBC show set to make shock return this year after sudden cancellation says star
ACTOR Stanley Tucci has hinted that his BBC show Searching for Italy could be returning this year, after its sudden cancellation.
The show was undoubtedly popular and received seven Emmy nominations, and won for an outstanding hosted nonfiction series in 2021 and 2022.
But Stanley has always spoken about doing a season three, “and more.”
Searching for Italy was cancelled in December by CNN, but the 62-year-old said they’re “talking to different companies.”
He continued to tell Variety: “We’ll find out in a few weeks.”
In the series, Stanley travels across Italy to discover the secrets and delights of the country’s regional cuisines.
At the time of cancellation, Stanley appeared on The Tonight Show and said: “Unfortunately, CNN has canceled all of their original programming, so hopefully we’ll end up on another streamer, network, we don’t know.”
Dad-of-five Stanley has made known his passion for cooking on social media, and the Hollywood star stole the hearts of fans when he posted a soothing video of how to make a Negroni.
He’s married to Felicity Blunt, a literary agent at the London talent agency Curtis Brown who is also the elder sister of actress Emily Blunt.
The pair have a cookbook together, The Tucci Table, published in 2014.
Stanley and Felicity’s meeting story is like something from a fairy tale.
Tucci is a close friend of Felicity’s sister Emily, after starring alongside the actress in The Devil Wears Prada.
So when Emily married Office star John Krasinski in 2010, of course Stanley and Felicity were both in attendance.
They met at the reception, which was held at George Clooney’s house in Lake Cuomo, in Italy.
The pair hit it off, and a year later Tucci proposed during a getaway to Berlin.
The couple wed in a private ceremony in 2012, which was later marked with a very public celebration in London, where Emily was a bridesmaid, Steve Buscemi was the best man, and Oliver Platt was a groomsman.
