Darren Bent claims move to Spurs ‘makes the most sense’ for England star
Darren Bent has said that Tottenham Hotspur seem like the most obvious destination for Jordan Pickford this summer if Everton fail to stay up.
Multiple outlets have reported over the last few months that Spurs are expected to sign a successor to Hugo Lloris in the summer.
According to Football.London, Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, Brentford’s David Raya, Brighton’s Robert Sanchez and AC Milan’s Mike Maignan are the four names at the top of the North London club’s wishlist.
Pickford was also previously mooted as a target for Spurs (Daily Mail) but the England number one signed a new four-year deal at Goodison Park back in March.
Everton currently sit in 19th place in the Premier League table and while there is thought to be no relegation clause in the goalkeeper’s contract, Ben Jacobs told Caught Offside a couple of weeks ago that Pickford has a verbal agreement with the Merseyside club that he can leave if they fail to stay up.
When asked if a move to Spurs could be on the cards for Pickford if Sean Dyche’s men go down, Bent has now told talkSPORT (2 May, 4 pm): “That’s the place I think he should go.
“I think Spurs for me is the one that makes the most sense.”

If Everton do go down, one would expect the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United to also enter the race for Pickford’s signature.
The fact that the 29-year-old is homegrown and experienced in the Premier League, would make him quite a lucrative option for several top clubs.
