Erik ten Hag challenges Amad, Hannibal and Alvaro Fernandez to "compete" for Man Utd spot
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag admits he is ‘happy’ with the performances of Amad Diallo, Hannibal Mejbri and Alvaro Fernandez for their respective loan clubs.
The Dutchman said that the experience of securing first-hand senior football would help the three youngsters to progress in their careers.
He said to ManUtd.com, “Definitely, it will help them. Not everyone can be on the first team, but the aim is always to have a loan and to get experience.
“To progress and to develop and so get ready for the first-team squad for Man United.
“So we are happy with their performances and hopefully they can compete for a position in the first team.”

Hannibal and Fernandez have had decent loan spells with Birmingham City and Preston North End, respectively.
The Tunisia international made 41 appearances for the Blues, bagging one goal and six assists. His only goal, a stunning long-range free-kick, was voted as the Championship club’s goal of the season.
Fernandez featured 42 times for Preston, registering six assists in his first spell in professional football. The Spanish full-back caught the eye with his attacking style of play.
They could be sent out on another loan term next campaign so that they continue to develop rather than warming the bench at United.
Amad looks set to be involved in the United’s first-team after a spectacular season with Sunderland. The 20-year-old has played a vital role in helping the Black Cats reach the Championship play-offs.
In 41 appearances across all competitions, he amassed an impressive tally of 14 goals and four assists. He has also displayed great versatility – playing as a right-winger, number 10 or centre-forward.
Apart from Marcus Rashford, United have been dire in the final third. Ten Hag could use Amad from the bench as he used Alejandro Garnacho as an impact substitute this season.
