Israel Resumes Airstrikes On Gaza Amid Ceasefire Efforts
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed multiple airstrikes against Islamic Jihad targets in the Gaza Strip. These targets include rocket launch pads and command post sites.
In an early-morning statement on Saturday, the IDF stated that the Air Force conducted an airstrike on a top Islamic Jihad official’s command centre “that was being used to plan and execute terror acts against Israel.”
After Israeli aircraft struck Islamic Jihad sites in the enclave the previous night, Palestinian militants in Gaza started relaunching rockets towards Israel before dawn as the fighting began its fifth day.
Rocket sirens were activated at several places in southern Israel, including Ashkelon and communities near the Gaza border.
After nearly eight hours of silence along the Israel-Gaza border, sirens suddenly sounded.
At least 33 Palestinians and one Israeli have died in the flare-up, and Egypt has been attempting to mediate a cease-fire.
